Airport Pick Up

What To Expect

Students will be picked up from the Athens airport (if arriving during the CIS Abroad Arrival Window - 7.00AM - 9.00PM) by ACG staff. They will be waiting inside the arrivals building at Exit 3 (next to the information desk) and will be holding the sign below.

ACG staff will then direct you to the shuttles which will take you directly to your accommodation.

For those who arrive outside the arrival window, ACG’s staff will reach out to you directly with information on walk-in hours and how to proceed with arriving on campus.

If No One Is At The Pickup Location

If you get to the Athens airport and nobody's there, wait a moment. We may just be helping students into a taxi and will be right back. If no one is there after 20-30 minutes, please call the CIS Abroad Emergency phone +1 413 210 7091  or your Site Director (And check that you are in T1!)

The airport has wifi so you can connect and call via WhatsApp. You can also email us at emergency@cisabroad.com but remember to refresh often to be able to see our response.

Flight Delays or Cancellations

If your flight is delayed, or you will arrive outside the arrival window first sent an email iss@acg.edu with your name and ACG student ID number and your estimated time of arrival. Your delay will be handled in a case-by-case situation and a member of ISS will be in contact with them. You can also notify CIS Abroad of your delay by emailing emergency@cisabroad.com and let us know your new flight details. We will be checking that email consistently on your arrival date, along with your flight status.

If by the time you have landed, and you have not received an email response from ISS or from us, please call the emergency phone ( +1 413 210 7091) to inform us that you have landed and we will give you directions on where to go.

Important - Staff will NOT arrange your transportation. You will need to arrange your own transportation into the city.

Lost Baggage

If your bags decide to take a later flight, don’t panic. If the airline loses your luggage you must file a report with the airline while you are still in the baggage area. It is much more difficult to file this report once you’ve left the baggage claim area. The information you will need to provide on that form include the following:

  • NAME (you can give your name)
  • PHONE # (Give them Evgenia or Kostas' number: +30 693 603 1154 or +30 694 823 0567)
  • ADDRESS (Deree (American College of Greece), Achilleos 3A GR-153 42)

In the comments you can request delivery from 9am-5pm. Have your bag sent to your residence and make sure to let the front desk know that they will be delivering it during the day.

The airline baggage claim service will usually give you a website and a code where you can track your misplaced bag if you want updates.

Early Arrivals

If you arrive before your program start date, you are responsible for yourself until the day the program begins. This includes your transportation, housing, meals and safety. Don't worry, many students choose this option and exploring the city for a day or two on your own can be a fun way to start your program and beat the jet lag before things start!

Late Arrivals

If you miss your pick up at the Athens airport: first, use the airport wifi or a courtesy phone to call the CIS Abroad Emergency phone (+1 413 210 7091) and notify us of your updated flight plans, as it might be possible to get you on the next airport pickup transfer. If you are past the last airport pick up and need to find your own way to the accommodation, we recommend going via taxi or bus.

Taxi:

  • Head outside of the arrival terminal to reach the taxis
  • Each terminal has its own sheltered taxi rank at the front of each terminal building, simply follow the signage in the terminal. Give them your Address : Deree (American College of Greece), Achilleos 3A GR-153 42  (locals know ACG as ‘Deree’)Fare Estimate: 70 EURO and it will be about a 25 minute drive.

Bus:

  • There is an airport bus (E94) located outside of the main terminal that runs daily from 7am to 11pm. Get off on the Aghia Paraskevi Square stop and use Aghiou Ioannou Street to reach the ACG Central gate (about 10 minutes walking.. The cost is 8 EURO and the trip will be approximately 1.5 hours.

*Please note you will not be reimbursed for any missed airport pick up.
